He has lived in Switzerland since 2001 and was born and raised in the home of the blues - the USA. He has lived in the States for more than 30 years, playing on stages from Michigan and Florida, from Chicago to South Carolina. John Lyons (guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer), sings and plays blues, rock, pop, soul and singer/songwriter with passion and authenticity. The music is very groovy, a mix of Texas shuffle, Chicago blues and soulful folk-rock ballads that makes it impossible to sit still.
John studied music at Lake Michigan College, but in his younger years he primarily taught himself to play the guitar by ear. He has over 30 years of stage and studio experience from which he can draw to help you advance as a guitarist.
Musicians like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath or The Beatles had just as much influence on my musical development as a teenager, just as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, ZZ Top and Stevie Ray Vaughan had on my bluesy playing character.

Do you live in Regensdorf, Dielsdorf, Oerlikon, Buchs ZH, Dallikon? In the Limmattal or Furttal region? I offer guitar lessons in the greater Zürich area in English and German.
My name is John Lyons, I was born and raised in the USA, but have lived in Regensdorf/Watt, Zurich since 2001. I have my own band and have written songs that have been and still are played on the radio. I love giving guitar lessons.
The guitar lessons take place next to the Regensdorf train station, in the canton of Zurich. I offer lessons for everyone, be it beginners or people who can already play and want to improve. Children aged 8 and over, teenagers and adults can come to me. Guitar Lessons in English in the Zurich area also offered.
As a beginner, you will learn the parts of the guitar, scales, techniques for both hands, chord progressions, picking patterns and much more. I teach by teaching you songs. We can choose the songs together so that you are motivated to learn them.
More advanced students can practice their skills by playing solos
and improve your improvisation, learn new chord inversions and play more difficult rhythms - it's entirely up to you!

What is your absolute specialty?
My specialty is my versatility as a musician and guitarist. Blues, Rock, Pop, Metal, Country, Acoustic, Ballads, lead and rhythm techniques, seeing patterns on the fretboard, playing major or minor using same scales in different positions, music theory. I am very intuitive as a person and I can usually find a way to teach you that fits your abilities and musical interests.
